A Message From The Chief

As we reflect on 2025, I am incredibly proud of the progress and growth we've experienced at the Nicholasville Police Department. This past year marked another important step forward for our agency as we continued building on the momentum created in recent years.

By the end of 2025, our department's authorized strength had grown to 79 full-time sworn officers — the largest in our agency’s history. Reaching this milestone reflects our continued commitment to strengthening public safety and ensuring we have the resources necessary to serve the citizens of Nicholasville effectively.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our Mayor and City Commissioners for their continued support throughout the past year. Their leadership and commitment to public safety have made this growth possible, and we are grateful for their partnership.

Beyond expanding our sworn ranks, we continue to benefit from the addition of two vital civilian positions: a Social Worker and a Victim's Advocate. These roles have proven to be invaluable assets to both our department and our community. Our officers routinely respond to complex situations where specialized resources are needed, and these professionals help bridge the gap between law enforcement services and the broader needs of our community — ensuring people receive the support and care they deserve.

In 2025, we also strengthened our organizational structure by adding supervisory positions within both our Records Division and our School Resource Officer program. Establishing dedicated supervision in these areas ensures greater continuity in daily operations while enhancing accountability and oversight. These additions allow us to better support the personnel assigned to these critical functions, maintain consistent standards of service, and ensure these programs continue to operate efficiently while meeting the needs of our community and our partner agencies.

Community engagement remains at the heart of our mission. In 2025, we proudly continued initiatives such as the NPD Car Show, the Neon Bike Ride & Exchange, the Citizens Police Academy, Coffee with a Cop, and our popular Copsicle program. We also had our first multi-agency and community-involved National Night Out event at Lake Mingo Park.  These events provide meaningful opportunities to build relationships, foster trust, and strengthen our connection with those we serve.

Officer wellness also remains one of our highest priorities. Our ability to serve this community with excellence depends on ensuring our officers are supported, healthy, and resilient. We continue pursuing grant funding and new partnerships to enhance officer wellness initiatives. Our goals include reducing barriers to mental health services, fostering a supportive culture within the department, developing proactive approaches to address stress and trauma, and providing resources not only for our officers but for their families as well.

We are committed to building partnerships with wellness professionals, mindfulness and resiliency providers, nutritionists, and counselors to ensure our officers have the tools they need — both personally and professionally — to thrive.

As Chief of Police, I remain dedicated to making the Nicholasville Police Department a place where our employees are valued, supported, and empowered to serve with compassion, fairness, and professionalism. Together, we will continue moving forward, building trust, strengthening community relationships, and providing the highest level of service to the citizens of Nicholasville.

Thank you for your continued support.
