About the Nicholasville Police Department
The Nicholasville Police Department was formed on February 8, 1812, the same day the city was incorporated. The original station was located on West Oak Street until 1984. At that time, the Nicholasville Police Department moved to 510 N. Main Street where it shared building space with the Nicholasville Fire Department Station #1.
The original agency grew in size over the years as the population and needs of the city increased. The Nicholasville Police Department moved to a brand-new space in 2022 at 717 N. Main Street.
Currently, the Nicholasville Police Department consists of 79 sworn officers and 11 civilian personnel, along with multiple divisions and units that exist to serve the City of Nicholasville.
