COMMUNITY POLICING ADVOCATES

In 2024, the Nicholasville Police Department added two vital civilian positions - a Social Worker and a Victim's Advocate. These positions help bridge the gap between law enforcement and the broader needs of the community - ensuring people receive the support and care they deserve.

Police Social Worker

Jackie Hisel, LCSW

Jackie has a number of roles/responsibilities including but not limited to on scene crisis intervention, resource allocation and connection, and support of families and individuals facing hardships due to a variety of reasons. Jackie regularly works with individuals and families alongside patrol officers to support and offer guidance during unexpected circumstances. Additionally, Jackie has a background in substance use recovery.

Therapy Dog In Training

Jessie

Jessie is a 1 year old mixed breed rescue dog from an Amish puppy mill. She comes to work with her mom, Jackie, every day and provides emotional support to citizens and NPD personnel alike. She loves attention and pets!

Victim's Advocate

Samantha Potter

Samantha primarily works with individuals and families who are navigating the perils of domestic violence. She provides education and support so people feel empowered to make the best decision for their individual situation. Samantha is a sworn officer of the Court and can assist with petitions for Emergency Protection. Additionally, she attends domestic violence court proceedings weekly to support and assist victims.

BCAP can provide families with support in the ways of Goodwill vouchers, parenting support, and bill assistance through LIHEAP during open application periods.
