SPREAD THE LOVE PEANUT BUTTER CHALLENGE

October 26, 2026

Randall Chewning, local State Farm Insurance Agent, invited the Nicholasville Police Department to participate in his "Spread the Love" collaboration with the Jessamine County Food Pantry. The goal was to collect 2,000 jars of peanut butter for local families in need. (Why peanut butter? It's generally shelf stable for months after opening and is a good source of protein!)

Mr. Chewning took it a step further and made it a friendly competition between NPD and the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) to see which department could collect the most jars of peanut butter! NPD said CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

The final totals are in!

Jessamine County Sheriff's Office collected 404 jars of peanut butter.

Randall Chewning, State Farm Insurance collected 1,006 jars of peanut butter.

Nicholasville Police Department collected 2,398 jars of peanut butter.

That's 3,808 jars of peanut butter that will all go to benefit families in need right here in Jessamine County!

BIKES, COMMUNITY & CONNECTION

September 13, 2026

The Nicholasville Police Department recently hosted a Bike Ride & Exchange for children ages 0–17 in Jessamine County. Children were provided free bicycles and families were encouraged to bring in gently used bikes to exchange for another child to enjoy.

The event brought children, families, NPD officers, and community members together for an afternoon focused on connection, activity, and giving back. The day concluded with a community bike ride led by members of the NPD Bike Patrol.

The event was held in honor of Anthony Ruggiero, whose commitment to serving others continues to inspire the department and community.
