DIVISIONS
CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS
The Criminal Investigations Division investigates serious and complex crimes, works to identify and apprehend offenders, and supports the department's efforts to keep our city safe.
DRUG ENFORCEMENT UNIT
The Drug Enforcement Unit investigates illegal drug activity, works to identify and apprehend offenders, and partners with other agencies to address drug-related crimes in our city.
COMMUNITY SERVICES
The Community Services Division works to build positive relationships throughout Nicholasville with outreach programs, educational initiatives, and community events.
COMMUNITY POLICING ADVOCATES
The Community Policing Advocates Division was established in 2024 to address the growing need for assistance with non-criminal issues, including mental health, basic resources, homelessness, and domestic violence. The division includes a Police Social Worker and Victims Advocate who help connect community members with the support and care they deserve.
SPECIALTY UNITS
BIKE PATROL
The Bike Patrol provides officers with a highly mobile way to engage with the community, patrol special events, and access areas that may be difficult to reach by vehicle.
COLLISION RECONSTRUCTION
TEAM (CRT)
The Collision Reconstruction Team investigates and reconstructs serious and complex motor vehicle collisions, using specialized training and technology to help determine how collisions occurred.
SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS (SROs)
School Resource Officers serve in local schools, working with students, staff, and families to promote safety, build positive relationships, and support a safe learning environment.
SPECIAL RESPONSE TEAM (SRT)
The Special Response Team provides a highly trained and specialized response to critical incidents that require resources beyond those of routine patrol operations.
CRISIS NEGOTIATION TEAM (CNT)
The Crisis Negotiation Team responds to critical incidents involving individuals in crisis and works to establish communication and achieve a safe resolution.
HONOR GUARD
The Honor Guard represents the Nicholasville Police Department at ceremonies, memorial services, and other special events, honoring those who serve and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
DRONE UNIT
The Drone Unit supports NPD operations in a variety of situations, including searches for missing individuals, investigations, collisions, and other calls where aerial support can assist officers and the community.
