OUR HISTORY
The Nicholasville Police Department was formed on February 8, 1812, the same day the city was incorporated. The original station was located on West Oak Street until 1984, when the department moved to 510 N. Main Street and shared building space with Nicholasville Fire Department #1.
As the population and needs of the city grew, so did the Nicholasville Police Department. In 2022, the department moved into a new facility at 717 N. Main Street, its current location.
Today, the Nicholasville Police Department consists of 79 sworn officers and 11 civilian personnel, along with multiple divisions and units dedicated to serving the City of Nicholasville.
A MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF
As we reflect on 2025, I am incredibly proud of the progress and growth we've experienced at the Nicholasville Police Department. This past year marked another important step forward for our agency as we continued building on the momentum created in recent years.
By the end of 2025, our department's authorized strength had grown to 79 full-time sworn officers — the largest in our agency’s history. Reaching this milestone reflects our continued commitment to strengthening public safety and ensuring we have the resources necessary to serve the citizens of Nicholasville effectively.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our Mayor and City Commissioners for their continued support throughout the past year. Their leadership and commitment to public safety have made this growth possible, and we are grateful for their partnership.
