Community Services
The Community Services Division consists of personnel who work together with community members, service agencies, business owners, and other government agencies to develop and implement community engagement, education and outreach, and various other services throughout the city we serve. Some examples of what we do are:
-
We teach the DARE program to our 5th grade students in all of our elementary schools.
-
We host Citizen's Police Academy classes, spring and fall sessions.
-
Operation Copsicle - Our Copsicle Truck is a community engagement program to hand out free popsicles from police officers. Our goal is to combat the negative stigma and provide positive law enforcement encounters within our community.
-
We utilize our department's therapy dog, ERIS and visit the schools to engage with the youth.
We welcome an opportunity to work with you. Please contact us with questions, concerns, ideas, or initiatives.
Please monitor the Nicholasville Police FaceBook page for the next dates of the Citizens Police Academy. You can download the Citizens Police Academy application below, when completed please submit to the front desk/lobby during business hours.
