Why the name change to the Neon Bike Ride and Exchange?

It’s no secret that the Nicholasville Police Department and the Jessamine County community suffered a great loss in February 2025 when Officer Anthony Ruggiero passed away. Anthony had a great love for others and was passionate about giving back to his community members. The Neon Bike Ride and Exchange was one of Anthony’s favorite events, so it was renamed to honor his memory.

Anthony’s unexpected passing opened the door for some very raw and honest conversations about mental health and suicide awareness. The Nicholasville Police Department has a Police Social Worker and Victim’s Advocate on staff who can connect community members and law enforcement personnel alike to mental health professionals so that no one suffers alone. If you are struggling, please reach out! NPD is here to offer judgement free assistance.
